The International Women’s Day is around the corner, and it is dedicated to all the wonderful women in our lives.
They’re our cheerleaders, pillars of strength, our counsellers, and so much more. Mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and best friends. They take up so many important roles selflessly. We love them with all our hearts and this is why Women should not only be celebrated in the Women’s Day but every day!
This Women’s Day, we asked our team members, including some partners and friends a simple question:
A woman who inspires you and why?
“My mother inspires me by being the strongest woman I ever know. She leads our family when my father became paralyzed 14 years ago, and recently she just beat ovary cancer. While experiencing all of that, she managed to complete her part-time study and received a Bachelor’s Degree in 2012”, said Saiful Hakim who is on the Youth Engagement team at myHarapan.
Motherhood goes beyond everything. Being a mother isn’t a walk in the park. It’s difficult and rewarding, and the world’s toughest job.
“We are all very familiar with the saying every successful man, there is a woman supporting behind the scenes. I’m a strong believer in this statement. As for me, Mother is the first word of a child. My mother is the most precious gift of God for me. It is a very challenging task for me to describe her in words. Annie, my mother is my best friend. I can share my good moments with her. During my bad times, I always find my mother with me. My mother is very hardworking and one of my heroes in my life. She is a fighter and a survivor of a stroke decease, breast cancer and recently colon cancer. But, this never stops her from caring and loving our family. She is the backbone of my family.
Thank you and love you Mum”, said Mohd Sanul, the rascal son and Co-founder of Discover Muaythai.

Check out what the others have to say:
“Women who inspires me is definitely my mum. It sounds cliche but she is one of the women that inspires me as she embodies strength and courage. Courage to move to a different city to find a future. Strength to venture into the unfamiliar territory of business and raise 3 stubborn children by herself. I’d like to think that apple(s) doesn’t fall far from the tree” said Syarina Hisham, myHarapan.
“Seeing how my sister keep persevering in whatever she does and never leaving my mum’s side and sight, my brother enduring body dislocations and fighting through day-to-day then and now with 2 boys and business at the same time and myself trying to affect change in my own little way with myHarapan and dabbling into pockets of micro business ventures. Though we are not even close to what she has done, her strength and courage definitely rubbed off us” she added.

There seems to be a recurring and similar theme here, don’t you think?
That’s because mothers will do everything in her power to make sure her children are raised right with morals, respect, discipline, education and manners to live their life the right way. Mothers are the only irreplaceable humans on this planet. No one can take their position — ever!
We also asked one of our successful Impact Driven Entrepreneur (IDE) MYFIZRO, under the Pemangkin Usahawan Sosial Hebat (P.U.S.H) program who has this to say
“MYFIZRO has grown from a small home-based business to an Enterprise and now to a Sdn Bhd over just a span of two years. We carry a nostalgic, oldskool product, Aiskrim Malaysia which is the neighborhood ice creams in plastic, that has been a part of our growing up scene ever since our independence”, said the CEO of MYFIZRO.
Those days, women have been producing and selling this comfort food, taking leftover flavored drinks after dinner (not one for waste), filling and tieing into plastic containers through the night, to sell the next day for an additional income for the family. Now we know the patience, perseverance, love, and sacrifices that are needed to produce these ice creams. What we have achieved and shall achieve is dedicated with love and appreciation to all the women (producing and selling these aiskrim Malaysia) who has been and will always be the inspiration to us!!!!, Thank you, ladies!”, he added.
