The ASEAN + 3 Youth Social Business Summit 2018

A summit with a line up of speakers and social business practitioners among ASEAN countries together with Japan, Korea, and China will be held from the 16th to 17th October 2018 at Hotel Armada, Petaling Jaya.

ASEAN Youth Social Business Summit is a 2-days summit that provides young people with a platform to generate solutions for challenges within the ASEAN context through social business and entrepreneurship.


It is organised by myHarapan and Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) with the aim to equip youth with the tools and knowledge to start and grow the social business movement in their respective countries.

Here’s what participants can look forward to during the summit:

  1. Participate in dialogue with social business practitioners.

    This dialogue will cover the reason why social businesses are started, the challenges they faced, the support provided in their respective countries, and their contribution in the ASEAN region.

  2. Listen to experience sharing in Pecha Kucha format.

    There will be several social businesses from Malaysia and from ASEAN + 3 countries will share their experience in running social businesses.

  3. Learn about the difference between social, traditional business and charity


    Participants will learn how to identify the needs and challenges in a community, learn specific tools on how to implement ideas and create solutions and understanding impact.

  4. Team up with other participants to generate ideas.

    Participants then are formed into groups to generate ideas on existing social businesses that are facing challenges.

  5. Develop solutions for social problems in ASEAN countries.

    ASEAN youth will discuss similar issues within each country and develop a solution together. This will encourage continuous communication and implementation of idea cross country.

  6. Listen to the pitch from 3 teams competing in myHarapan Social Business Challenge.

    3 teams from Malaysia will pitch their fresh new social business ideas to a panel of judges where the winners will be announced at  HOPE Awards dinner.

  8. Witness the born of  a ‘hero’ during Hope Awards Dinner

    An awards programme, showcasing and honouring the best youth-led organisations, projects, movements and initiatives in Malaysia.
